File Specifications

Image Specifications

Image uploads are supported for the following image formats: JPG, GIF and PNG.  Images cannot exceed 36 megapixels and they must have one of the following file extensions: .jpg, .jpeg, .gif or .png.  During processing, all images will be converted to sRGB JPGs. Incorrect color reproduction may occur if images need to be converted to the sRGB colorspace and the proper color profile is not attached to the image.

PDF Specifications

During processing, PDFs are rasterized to sRGB JPG images.  PDFs will be rasterized at as close to 150 PPI (pixels per inch) as possible, without going over 16 megapixels.  Any page that exceeds 16 megapixels after rasterization will be down sampled to 16 megapixels.  PDFs that contain images in colorspaces other than sRGB will be converted to sRGB.  Incorrect color reproduction may occur if images need to be converted to the sRGB colorspace and the proper color profile is not attached to embedded PDF images.

PDFs with the following standard page sizes will become JPEGs with the following resolutions:

12" X 15" (folio)  = 1800 x 2250 pixels
9.5" X 12" (quarto)  = 1425 x 1800 pixels
6" X 9" (octavo) = 900 x 1350 pixels
5" X 7 3/8" (12mo) = 750 x 1106 pixels

Anything larger than 150" X 150", or 22,500 square inches, cannot be rasterized.

ePUB Specifications

Valid ePUBs 2 & 3 documents are supported.  Creator uses EpubCheck to validate uploaded ePUBs.  You can use EPUB Validator to ensure your ePUB is valid.  ePUB files must be smaller than 100 MB.
